A German avant-garde Dada artist, one of
the originators of photomontage, seems to be
a lone female in the Berlin Dada movement.
She created some of the most interesting
and poignant photomontages, often criticising
and questioning the role of the modern woman
emerging in the aftermath of the First World War,
the Weimar period in Germany. I find her timeless
collages inspiring and radical. We still need to
question and criticise how women and young girls
are exposed and portrayed in the mass media today.
