invited by Moira Jarvis Barbara Hepworth In choosing Barbara Hepworth I wanted to explore Hepworth’s relationship with the natural world alongside her use of female imagery. The design for the place setting was developed from the oval shapes found in her sculpture that may relate to the womb or perhaps a Cornish bay ‘held within the arc of the coastline’. Like her, I have spent holidays searching for ancient flint axes on beaches in Norfolk and Neolithic Standing Stones in the Orkneys. Those stones chosen for Hepworth’s place setting connect us to our past but also point to the future. South London Women Artists I’m Inside, Ring The Bell 27
