7 PRO TIPS FOR GETTING YOUR
HOME INSPECTION IN 2019
Buying and selling your house can be a hectic task. Especially if you’re
buying a new house, you need to make sure that the house you have
set your heart onto and willing to pay every penny for, is worth it or not.
You don’t want to spend your money on a house that has secluded
issues that will cause you serious trouble in the future.
Therefore getting a home inspection is the wisest decision you can
make before green lighting the purchase. There is a lot of process that
you need to be aware of before and during the house inspection that
could potentially save you from wasting your time and money.
So here are a few tips that we got from experienced professionals to
help you get the best possible inspection and the red flags you should
look out for:
NEVER REJECT INSPECTION!
The biggest mistake buyers do, is when the seller asks them to forgo the inspection, they don’t get the house inspected. Which would be in
tremendous favor of the seller but certainly not for the buyer. House inspection is designed to protect the buyer from making a wrong
decision in purchasing a damaged property that will be a nightmare in the coming years.
BE PRESENT DURING THE INSPECTION
Most of the buyers leave the inspection to the house inspectors and don’t give much thought of being there during the inspection. After all,
you are paying for the inspection, you need to be there before it starts and stick till the end.
HIRE AN INSPECTOR THAT YOU TRUST
Finding a home inspector that you know or you can trust can give you a great boost in getting through the inspection process smoothly.
You can talk around with your friends if they know any or you can even take a friend who has more experience in buying houses than you
during the inspection as it will certainly give you peace of mind and a sense of trust.
ASK QUESTIONS
The previous point supports this one. As you need to make sure that the house you are going to buy has potential damage and is a bad
decision or not. If you don’t understand anything or something feels fishy, be sure to ask and talk with the home inspector to clear
out any confusion. It’s better to ask the questions before purchasing the property rather than after you bought it.
GET PROOF DURING INSPECTION
If you’re not going to show up during the inspection you won’t be able to have any proof. The sellers can show denial and be igno-
rant of the problems. Therefore it’s better to bring your own camera and ask the inspector to document any problems he per-
ceives during the inspection and help you better understand the problems. Using an infrared camera will be better as it will be able to
show damage not visible to you.
DON’T GET CARRIED AWAY
During an inspection don’t get too carried away as to start telling
the inspector how to do his job. He is a professional and you
should be involved but not too much, as it could lead to prolonging
the inspection and confusing your inspector.
DON’T FORGET THE ROOF AND BASEMENT
***
Make sure to check the roof as it’s the only thing that will
really protect you from the pouring weather. Most of the buyers
and professional home inspectors don’t go to that great lengths to
fully inspect the roof, especially if it inaccessible. And the base-
ment gives you the idea of the foundations of the house. If there
are a lot of cracksFree Articles, make sure if they are repairable
and will not cost you any problems in the future.
