Foreword

Terrorism is one the biggest challenges faced by the states of South Asia. Different states have used conventional counter-terrorism means to resolve the terrorism problem. In this edition we will be looking at the role played by law and legislation.

We in offer for you some great articles, with different mechanisms used by the authors as well different perspectives provided by the authors. We see nations that have fought off terrorist From Nepal, where terrorists of yesterday to are today's political allies (and foes), to Sri Lanka that is still simmering from its civil war against the Tamil Tigers. We see India and Pakistan, still battling with terrorism, using different legislative methods. Issues of constitutional protections and civil liberties become quite relevant here, and we see how states are attempting to balance these on one hand and their responsibility to ensure order and security on the other.

This hopefully will be an interesting and intellectually stimulating edition for you. As always, any feedback is highly appreciated.
