SUMMER 2019
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to our summer programme
We hope you like the new design of the programme
so far and the new bits and pieces we’ve added in. If
you would like to contribute anything – articles,
comments or photographs, we’d be happy to have a
look, so please email us at the below address or
send them in by snailmail for our autumn edition.
With our spring programme over, we tend to switch
some focus to projects and events for children and
young people for the summer months. But don’t
forget, before that in May, we have two of Ireland’s
brightest music stars, Paul Noonan from one of our
most beloved bands Bell X1 and the legendary
interpreter of songs Mary Black.
In June and July, we have a wide range of camps for
anyone aged between 7 and 18 years, so have a look
and see if you or yours might be interested.
This year we’ll celebrate 50 years since the first
moon landing which took place on the 20th July
1969. It was an astonishing achievement and one we
remember this season through our Youth Project.
We intend to create a big splash with this project,
and utilise the front of the building to be the canvas
for the final artwork. The moon landings were all
about spirit and imagination merging just at the
right time of enhanced technological innovation, so
we’ll try to keep that in mind, when the group are
working.
Overall, the summer programmes at The Source are
a chance for young people to extend their ideas
around creativity and take some chances that they
might not normally have on a day-to-day basis. So
whether it’s music, performance or visual arts for
the younger ones to teens, we have a programme or
project for them.
We look forward to seeing you at The Source
