MUSIC FILM Telephone Explosions This is Nicholas Friday 13 September Wednesday 18 September Experimental dream-pop duo Telephone Explosions, comprised of Thurles native Dolores Fogarty and Adrian Mee, returned with a self- released debut in 2019. The album draws on themes of hidden transmissions, unsolved mysteries, new life and waking the dead. Nicholas Ryan-Purcell is a filmmaker from Co. Tipperary. This documentary film chronicles the personal experience of living with Asperger’s Syndrome and autism spectrum disorder but also touches on depression, which was brought on by an early childhood trauma. The story is supported by interviews, old video footage, and photographs from childhood years. Telephone Explosions formed in Maynooth in 2016 and have received a warm critical reception since. The band have played the Body & Soul mainstage at Electric Picnic, and at the Sligo Live and Arcadian Field music festivals, They were awarded Irish album of the week by both Roddie Cleere's Irish Music Show on KCLRFM and Gary Gibson on Liffey Sound FM and were also shortlisted for Radio Nova's ‘Discovered’ best newcomer in June 2019. The film runs for 54 mins and will be followed by a Q&A with the film-maker. Dir.
