The Fureys
Saturday 05 October
Legends of Irish music and song The Fureys are
renowned for their hit songs ‘I Will Love You’,
‘When You Were Sweet Sixteen’, ‘The Green
Fields Of France’, ‘The Old Man’, ‘Red Rose Café’,
‘From Clare To Here’, ‘Her Father Didn’t Like Me
Anyway’, ‘Leaving Nancy’, ‘Steal Away’ and
more, return to The Source Arts Centre for this
October concert.
The Fureys are responsible for some of the
most stirring music ever to capture the public
imagination. Their folk based music has
received standing ovations in some of the
biggest concert halls of the world and they
credit their musical ability to their parents, Ted
and Nora, who were well-known musicians
themselves. They encouraged their sons to play
music from a very early age and there was live
traditional music in their house almost nightly.
Tears and laughter, sadness and joy. Expect
them all as The Fureys travel through their back
catalogue of hits and throw in a few surprises
along the way.

The White Crow
Wednesday 09 October
For his third film as actor-director, Ralph
Fiennes has chosen to look at Russian ballet
superstar Rudolf Nureyev setting his film in 1961
on the eve of Nureyev's defection to the West.
‘The White Crow’ introduces us to the on-tour
Nureyev in Paris, desperate to shake-off his
Soviet minders and live the city to the full. At
the height of the Cold War; for them, he is both
a prized asset and a huge liability, always
determined to use his status to gain the
upper hand.
Flitting between past and present, Nuryev’s life
and importance as a cultural icon to the USSR is
revealed. Fiennes depicts the ramifications of
the defection – treason to some – a cry for
freedom to others.
