As a significant cultural anchor the West Village
and downtown core, The Pumphouse Theatre
Cultural Centre was to see the renovation
and expansion of the existing Joyce Doolittle,
and Victor Mitchell theatres, as well as the
addition of a new 150 seat black box theatre,
administration wing, public gallery and street,
as well as back-of-house supporting spaces.
The project was to preserve, and enhance
the heritage of the existing Pump Station
#2, and expand the facility with modern and
contemporary functions and construction.
MTA was the Architect of Record. The design is
a true collaborative effort with PAI. My primary
function was to co-design, help develop a
functional programme, as well as manage,
schedule, and coordinate the work. At the
time of project cancellation, the project had a
developed functional programme and complete
schematic design.
