The SAIT Parkade and Playing Field is a 1,100
stall parking structure situated on and under a
ceremonial field frontingHeritage Hall.
Predominant features include a ceremonial glass
atrium vestibule that marks the entry and exit
in the heart of the campus; a custom designed
p unched metal screen system that utilizes the
residual metal tabs to incorporate a graphic
image; the artistic tooling, manufacturing and
installation is the first of its kind; the new playing
surface incorporates storm water retention
strategies; and the road system includes a
roundabout to control traffic when accessing and
departing the facility.
MTA is the Architect of Record. My primary
function was to assist BTA in co-design,
the schematic/design development of the
Parkade inclusive of screen and atrium. This
included design refinement, building envelope
development w/ emphasis on regional
conditions, and to strive for a consistent
execution of the concept design. In addition, my
team proceeded to author the working drawings
and specifications and executed the contract
through to construction.
