the world ( Facchini & França , 2009 ); yet , Brazil has one of the highest records of hate crimes and discrimination , specially towards transgender people . Latin America as a whole is a patriarchy , and the machismo culture makes it so Brazil still lives under strict traditional family values . Finally , I noticed a severe lack of lesbian related documentaries and characters . Between 2014 and 2017 , the number of registered homicides of lesbian women increased in 150 % according to The Intercept Brasil , which could mean there is a need for lesbian bodies to be represented more often in the big screen .
