To blur life with art , even if it becomes ‘ deliberately abnormal ’, is to abate these Decadent fears , this ‘ terrible pressure of the will ’, and to live in clear acknowledgement that the world we live in is a world of masks , of representations , and no matter what I can do I will never escape the horror at the heart of it all : that the world I experience is not real .
