George Fowles says that the first thing people mention when he introduces himself as a music major is the aptness of the city in which he chose to study . This is correct , he agrees , but more significant is the University of Liverpool ’ s Popular Music course , which ‘ challenges us to translate academic knowledge into ideas about how to improve the world we live in .’
George is only just entering his second year ; the maturity of writing serves as witness to his appraisal of our city and our university .

THE RECENT increase in releases of music-related films has been so noticeable that it could be said that we are living in a ‘ flat-out golden age ’ ( Rogers and Fox , 2019 ). 2018 and 2019 saw musicals adapted for the screen , artist biopics , and music documentaries . Films based on the music , and often the lives and careers of legendary acts such as Queen ( Bohemian Rhapsody , 2018 ), The Beatles ( Yesterday , 2019 ), Elton John ( Rocketman , 2019 ), and Liam Gallagher ( As it Was , 2019 ) have been released to considerable fanfare in the music world .
