Media . This is an important reminder that not all student work in the School is easily reproducible in a print format . For example , performances and sound recordings make up a crucial part of student work in the Music department , and this year saw the launch of a student record label , Merciful Sounds .

In June every year , Architecture hosts its Annual Degree Show , where you can see the fruits of the year ’ s work in the studios . This year our Architecture buildings were all closed , so the Show was virtual . You can still visit it online via https :// virtual-lsa . uk .
Finally , a special thanks to Dr Georgina Everett ( Communication and Media ), as ever , for curating , and to this year ’ s student editors , Ellie Beecham and Remy Greasley . In designing this stylish Anthology , they have put to great use skills learned on their degrees .
Professor Peter Buse has been Dean of the School of the Arts since 2018 . He works in the fields of critical and cultural theory , modern drama , and film and photography studies . His most recent book , The Camera Does the Rest : How Polaroid Changed Photography , published with University of Chicago Press , is a media archaeology of instant photography .
Remy Greasley ( Philosophy , Yr2 ) and Ellie Beecham ( Comms & Media , Yr3 ) won internships to organise , design and sub-edit the Anthology , and we think you ’ ll agree that they ’ ve done a terrific job . It ’ s only fitting that the collection should get the care and attention that Remy and Ellie have been able to give it .
Remy : “ It ’ s easy to forget about the students who aren ’ t on your course who are doing some incredible stuff . It was a puzzle to fit all the pieces of the anthology together , but I enjoyed thinking about the aesthetic of the pages and how different bits match and contrast .”
Ellie : “ My favourite part was talking to the students behind the work , learning about what excites them and understanding their thought process . It was fantastic to have the chance to read work from such talented students across the school , and great to have a project to work on during a pandemic , when everything changed so quickly .”
