AT 5:45 , Dave Prentiss awoke cold , and with the ghost of a hangover . This puzzled him , as it always did , because it had been fifteen years since he had touched even a drop of alcohol . He had probably been dreaming about drinking . In there , in his mind at least , he got what he wanted 70 % of the time . Yawning , eyes still bleary , the tired Detective got up from his mattress , and pressed the button on the wall to activate the shutters . He winced as the shrieking of rusty metal pierced his skull .
Should really get those fucking things fixed .
