‘ This project was developed in the framework of Design 1 , the semester one module of the MA in Architecture programme . The students were asked to design a small spa facility on the Hilbre Islands , located on the Wirral peninsular , Merseyside . The aim of this module is to sensibilise students in designing within the natural context , using natural formations as their design driver .

Qian and Gang were inspired by erosion and rock formations , which they instrumentalised into a contemporary cave structure offering ideal integration in the Hilbre Island landscape , in addition to stunning interiors and magic views to Wales .’
