perceived as an activity conducted by people wish to do something beneficial to the society (Schnaiberg, Weinberg and Pellow, 2000). The substance of this program is to reduce the urban waste, addressing the problem of too much disused land and contributing to urban development. Moreover, all the urban development programs are supposed to make achievements in equity, economy and environment (Schnaiberg, Weinberg and Pellow, 2000). These are three key terms in the components of society so that urban recycling is responsible for it. Strategies and tactics Urban re-cycling is an effective solution to the wasteland expansion. There are some commonly used strategies behind the regeneration of drosscapes. First of all, designers should analyze the site. Measures need to be adjusted to local conditions. For instance, if the site was a former heavy industrial factory and left so much contamination, it might not be a good choice to convert it into farmland. Second, based on the idea of recycling, designers lead the reconstruction of certain territory and theory (Ciorra and Marini, 2012). Designer should start over to think about the function of property, topographic modeling, reconnection with urban context, the circulations, open and private spaces and so many other aspects. Third, Marini (2010) also pointed out that existing landscape should be considered as archaeological evidence. It is perceived that landscape is like a palimpsest which is a rewriting and recording of human activity on landscape. This idea is also supported by Holl, Crone and Schultz (2003), as they claimed that landscape-level restoration can inherit historical civilization flourished in this place. According to the research of Zheng et al. (2011, p.590), there are four peculiarities to be considered when rebuilding facilities on derelict landscape: A. Ecological Characteristic It is necessary to show respect to the self-maintenance of nature because of the high possibility that ecological elements have been ruined. B. Artistic Characteristic Modern art is encouraged to be integrated into the recycling design. C. Characteristic of Site All the design should be done on the basis of having a deep comprehension of local history and culture. D. Social Characteristic Design should satisfy social needs to a certain extent. 23
