The Tale of the Dirt Bike

by Ronnie Manville III

Once upon a time my dad wanted a dirt bike when he was young. He wanted a dirt bike really bad but his parents kept saying no to him. He kept asking them anyways because he really wanted one. They didn’t want him to get one because they thought he would get in a lot of trouble. One day he asked them and they finally said yes to getting a dirt bike. He was excited and surprised. He told all of his friends that he could get one and the were all happy.

My dad had to work a lot and save up to buy a dirt bike. He was working at his parents store with them. He started to already look at dirt bikes and see what kind he wanted and what one he liked most. The dirt bike he found was a 1996 Yamaha. The bike looked good, was pretty clean. Him and his dad went to go meet the guy and pick up the dirt bike. He instantly fell in love with the bike and really wanted it. His dad looked over the bike and everything looked to be in good shape. They handed the guy the money and then they loaded it up in the back of their truck. On the way home they were talking about where he could ride it. There was a field next to their house so that’s where he would be able to ride it. When they got home it was dark outside so they unloaded the bike and went to bed.

The next day he got all of his gear on and rode it through the field next to their house. He called up a few of his buddies to come over and check out the dirt bike. When they all showed up they liked the bike and all wanted to drive it. My dad said they could take it for a ride if they went easy. After they all rode it they were impressed with it. My dad hopped back on the dirt bike and started going toward the road. Instead of riding in the field he rode it up the road. When came back down the road he was doing wheelies on it. His parents came outside and yelled at him. The cops showed up and told him that he can’t be doing that. He parked the bike and his friends went home. After that happened he didn’t ride on the road again.
