• Not getting enough sleep? Make it a goal to get to bed a couple hours earlier and see how it feels. Maybe cut down on the late-night Netflix binge.
• Yes, working long hours makes it very difficult to exercise and make our own meals. Find a buddy to keep you accountable and to remind you to set that early alarm or make it to the gym after work. It is always worth making time when it comes to your own personal health.
• As above, a healthy diet is just as important as regular exercise. Make time for a home cooked meal. Don’t have time to cook after work? Set a day to meal prep and cook your favorite healthy meals to eat throughout the week.
Trust me, everything I’ve mentioned is nothing you haven’t heard before. However, I want to encourage you to not get so busy that you forget about taking care of yourself and gradually fall into a slump that leads to sluggish attitudes and bad moods. Instead, go fill your body up with dopamine and get happy.
As we all know, life is full of obstacles; even little ones we face on a day to day basis such as not getting enough sleep, long hours at the office, projects that need to be finished, and not having time to cook a balanced meal. All of these things separately are just little battles. This means we should look at overcoming them as little daily accomplishments rather than overwhelming ourselves with grand healthy ambitions—which most of the time leads to failure.
