Gentlemen's Threads

Typically when we think of style recently, we think of streetwear, or we think of something so dapper it’s not practical for the everyday man. Unaffordable for many of us, most streetwear is about layering which may not be the best for spring or for transitional days.

This article takes lessons from the most fashionable president in modern history.

Picture him and I hope that most of us will picture our Spring Gentlemen’s Threads article inspiration.

JFK.

I want to draw some spring inspiration from President Kennedy and talk about some spring fashion classics. Today some of the world’s most powerful men are known for dad Jeans and spray tans or just being outdated. In contrast, JKF had impeccable style. He opted to do things his own way with his suits, but I want to focus on his sailing attire and his accessories. The following are what I’ve deemed staples of a solid JFK inspired closet this season:

Shorts are best worn with a slimmer fit and either to the knee or above the knee. Khaki is a good color, but don’t forget about navy. Or if you want to spice it up, try any assortment of colors. Solid colors are more reliable than any pattern so stick to them and wear these shorts spring after spring.

Linen pants are a spring staple all together. Light and slightly wrinkled. Look for a slim fit.
