Summer Dates
It’s summer! For most of us, that means warm weather, more free time, and a lot of date nights to fill. If you’re wondering how to fill those summer evenings and weekends with creative dates (other than movie marathons), look no further! Here are a few inexpensive dates you can plan this summer.
A Movie Outside
Let’s face it, there are so many movies to watch together that it’s impossible not to have at least a few movie nights. But try mixing it up and watching one outside. See if you can borrow a projector, or just grab a blanket and your laptop and hit the lawn. Cuddle up with some cool beverages and make your movie night an outdoor event.
County Fair
One of the most fun summer dates you can take is to your local county’s fair. If your county doesn’t have one, find out where one is held close to you. Get your favorite snacks and ride your favorite rides. I always make sure to ride the Ferris wheel and get an elephant ear. I went on a date to one this year and even saw my first Demolition Derby! Find your fair’s schedule and try out a new activity together.
A Weekend Away
Grab an overnight bag and hit up AirBnB for a place to stay the weekend this summer. Whether you make reservations at a Bed and Breakfast and explore a town you’ve never been to, camp out and go hiking in the woods, or even make it a day trip to somewhere you don’t get to go often, getting out of town for a while will do you good and give you and your loved one a chance to explore new things together.
Star-Gazing
There’s nothing like laying in the grass or on the bed of a truck, looking for constellations in the sky. You can also make reservations at some observatories to get a closer look, or use a personal telescope. If your area has too much light pollution or you’re just craving to see the stars and learn the history of the constellations during the day, see if you have a local planetarium.
Creative/Craft/Painting Night
Buy a few canvases and paint, or ever finger paint. Playing music counts too! YouTube has tutorials you can follow along with to get an idea of where to start on almost any craft…or jump right in. You don’t have to be artistically inclined to have a good time with crafts. You will definitely have fun, likely make a mess, and hopefully have something that you’re proud of to show off!
