There are many problmes besides priating that lead to turmoil in somalia. The lack of government has also been the cause of starvation, economic downfall, and poverty. 43% of somalia is under the poverty line. Most of the poverty is in the rural areas and not so much in the cities since there tends to be more job opportunities. Other contributing factors to the poverty is the outbreak of civil war, the lack of economic infrastructure, absence of a central government to enforce laws, and natural disasters such as floods, droughts, and tsunamis. The majority of the poverty is located in the southern part of Somalia (Finance, 2013),this is because It has no central government and there is a lot of violence. Violence has always been an issue for Somalia, there has been wars in the country's past and plenty of attacks from militia groups and now the big issue of privacy. Other countries have entered Somalia to assist them in their civil war. In the South, there are several different groups that are battling each other (Gettleman, 2010). The groups are Ethiopian troops, pro-government groups supported by the Ethiopians, Islamic control, and the African Union. In the North and North-West of Somalia, the violence and poverty is much less because they have formed laws and structure. The two territories in the north are Somaliland and Puntland. Most of the poverty and famine is in the central part of the southern half of Somalia. It is mostly under Islamic control and the control of pro-government forces. The current government is trying to get things under control so that they can focus on reviving the country and its people.
