Leading in a Storm
By Debra Morton
I never dreamed I would write a book
about storms. Well, I also never dreamed
I would face such tragedies but… it
happened. Some people in certain
parts of the world may be experiencing
a weather storm. On the other hand,
storms are inevitable for anyone and
everyone and unfortunately, they’re not
a dream. A dream about a storm would
be great, but storms that become reality
can be “something else.” When you
experience losing a close loved one, a
lucrative career or your dream home, it
is not always easy to come from under
the rubble. I’ve been there and felt that!”
However, I’ve concluded that one of
the best things about storms is that
if and when you survive one, you can
help someone else weather their storm.
After all, aren’t we down here to make
people and things better? Better still, if
you “thrive” after a storm, you should
be elated to tell someone your victory
story, giving them hope and proof that
they can make it through their most
difficult seasons.
Again, these most difficult seasons
of casualties and consequences are
unavoidable, but as a believer and a
leader the impact and responsibility can
be intensified, may it be a natural disaster
or the storms of life. Leaders of family,
organizations, or government must not
only concern themselves with their
own problems but show compassion
and provide leadership for others. The
responsibility can begin as early as the
onset of a storm or in the midst of it!
One must strengthen themselves first,
in order to help others!
