Particularly with WWE’s immense
worldwide reach, we thought we
could reach some unique audiences
that wouldn’t normally consider a
faith-based film. Plus, our executive
producer and my boss, Pastor James
MacDonald, brought credibility to
the faith crowd and his own loyal
audience.
Unfortunately, all this didn’t
translate to theatrical box office
success. There are multiple reasons
for that, which is a different article
altogether. But we stand by the
film, and we believe we did move
the needle in the faith genre
towards diversity of options for faith
audiences. And now it’s picking up
some steam on home entertainment,
and word of mouth is building.

I’ve been a Christian my whole
life, and as long as I can remember
I’ve wanted films that reflected my
experience. And while I love and
appreciate the successful faith-based
films that have had impact, they
usually fall into one or two categories.
The Christian experience has as
many dimensions and varieties and
flavors as everyone else’s, and if our
art doesn’t reflect that, it’ll become
routine and run out of steam.
We need comedy, action, thrillers,
and even horror films, with actors and
storylines that reflect all the facets
of the Christian world. Consider that
“The Resurrection of Gavin Stone” is
the only faith-based film I can think of
in the last few decades that is set at
