Pets go to church A Celebration of Creation and Blessing of Animals will take place on Sunday September 30, at 10.30am in Vélez- Málaga Church (Calle Linares 7, Vélez- Málaga). Nerja Town Hall have announced that the poster entitled “BailARTE”, is the winning work of the 2018 Feria Poster competition. A total of 84 works were received from all parts of Spain and even from Latin America. They were all evaluated by the jury appointed by the town hall. They were then narrowed Jazz on the beach Ventana Abierta is presenting a series of concerts this month, the "Jazz on the Beach" festival, every Thursday in September from 7.30pm the best jazz on Melissa Launay lives and works between Nerja (where she grew up) and London. She achieved an MA in Fine Art from the University of Seville and has illustrated several books for British and American publishers. Alongside her illustrative work, Melissa is represented and exhibits regularly with three galleries in the UK: the Russell Gallery and Jonathan Cooper Gallery both in London and The Brian Sinfield Gallery in the Cotswolds. She exhibits twice a year at the Affordable Art Fair in both Hampstead and Battersea Park. Over the past few months we have worked hard to create a new website that brings all of Soltalk’s content online. The flipbook version is still available to read online. The new site is designed to be mobile and tablet friendly so you can stay up to date on the go. Currently live is just phase one of the website, featuring the latest news, articles and our what’s on 20 down into a shortlist of 20, then ten and then five, and finally a winner was declared. Some of the selection criteria were the expressiveness and the symbolic capacity related to the theme, the ability to transmit the message, creativity and artistic quality, and the aesthetics of the work (design, colour and originality). The president of the jury, Mr. Iván Rebolledo, who announced the winner, indicated the difficulty they had among so much work to select just one. We love it!
