Golf
Fiestas
Nerja does not have its own golf course but it has plenty of
golfers. The Golf International Nerja Society (GINS) has some
750 members and for information access the website
www.ginsgolf.com and you will find all the necessary contact
points. Alternatively, visit their HQ at the El Puente Bar and
Restaurant at C/Carretera 4, Nerja (Map E3) and view their
notice board. GINS members and a committee member are
often available on a Saturday lunch time from 12.30pm.

No visit to Nerja is complete without a trip to Frigiliana, some
5kms inland. This picturesque village is steeped in history and
one of the best ways to learn it is to take one of the official

Manolo
Manolo (pictured right) is a familiar
figure in Nerja. Profoundly deaf, he is
one of seven brothers, all with hearing
difficulties. He may place a card
depicting the alphabet for the deaf on
your table, returning a few minutes
later, hoping to receive a donation. He is
the only person licensed by Nerja Town
Hall for this type of work. Manolo is
respected by regular visitors, residents
and business owners alike though,

San Anton Procession and fireworks,
bonfires in the streets (Maro).
Three days of festivities culminating
in the Carnival Parade and closing
on the Sunday with the Burial of the
Sardine.
Holy Week (Easter)
Cruces de Mayo
San Isidro - Procession from Nerja to
the caves. Dress up and dance.
San Juan - Night time barbecues on
the beach. For good luck, swim at
midnight or at least wet your face
with sea water.
Virgen del Carmen - The Virgin is
carried through the streets of Nerja
to the beach and out to sea on a
fishing boat.
Festival de la Cueva - Flamenco and
classical music concerts in the Nerja
caves at Maro.
Maro Fair
Feria de Nerja - The fair comes to
Nerja for five days of dressing up
and partying.
