Scruffs!
their new forever homes in Norway. Once they both pass their
Rabies Titer tests, flights can be arranged with our Nordic
sister charity.
Handlers and dogs, the Costa Animal Society (CAS) is pleased
to announce that our annual dog show Scruffs will be held on
October 14 at the Plaza de España in Nerja from 12.00pm until
5.00pm. Guaranteed to be a wonderful afternoon, there will be
prizes for 12 different categories, including Waggiest Tail, Best
Rescue Dog and the real nail-biter, best Sit and Stay. Food and
beverages will be available along with several stalls offering a
diverse selection of handicrafts.
Available for Adoption
Punki is a young pup who was found in the Nerja campo a
couple of years ago and taken
in by a young Spanish couple
who already had two dogs. She
lived happily in their garden
and became part of their
family. Unfortunately the
couple has recently broken up.
While you’re there, don’t miss our tombola! For the
uninitiated, a tombola is a game where when you buy a ticket
if the last number of that ticket is a 0 or 5, there will be a
corresponding prize on the table. The prizes this year will be
well worth the gamble.
The girlfriend has taken one
dog to her father’s house and
another was re-homed to
Holland but poor Punki has no
place to go. She is a very
affectionate two to three year
old female who gets along well
with other dogs and who loves
human company.
We are also happy to announce that at 2.00pm there will be a
dog walk with several animal rescue groups parading dogs
ready for adoption. If a particular pooch catches your fancy,
after a home evaluation you can begin a new life with a loving
companion. Big fun!
Punta Lara CAS Quiz
CAS is looking forward to the monthly quiz being hosted by
Mark and staff at the Punta Lara Bar starting this autumn. We
would like to invite our regular quizzers and all newcomers to
a fun evening out which raises much needed funds for
abandoned dogs and cats in our area.
Punki
Ossian and Sebastian
are two brothers who
were owned by an
elderly Swedish man
that lived in a caravan
park for many years.
He adopted both boys
as young pups but as
fate would have it the
gent became seriously
ill with kidney failure
and had to fly home
Ossian and Sebastian
for urgent medical
treatment. They are
now 2-3 years old and each dog has an independent nature
and confident/alpha personality. They prefer each other’s
company but can live as a sole dog within a family.
The first quiz will be held on October 20, at 7:30pm and will
continue every third Friday of each month throughout the
winter and spring. Food and drinks are available at the bar and
advanced booking is recommended by calling Mark at 635 369
673.

Harvey is another example of a fantastic young dog who was
found in the streets of Caleta de Velez but did not have a chip.
The couple who found him placed posters in the area and
visited the local vets to no avail.
