Visit a gallery ?
The other day walking down c / Pintada in Nerja , I “ discovered ” a new art gallery . I then found out it had been open for eight months , but thought that if I ’ d missed it maybe other people had too . The gallery shows work by the painter and sculptor Francisco Martín , most famous for the sculpture of King Alfonso XII that stands on the Balcón de Europa ( pictured above with the artist ). As well as this sculpture you can view other works and paintings , most of which are for sale . Aside from the fantastic art , the building that houses the gallery is a stunning dwelling built in the 19th century and lived in until very recently . It features a fantastic inner patio with roman columns and a large garden and has amazing tilework and other features such as an ornate front door . Really well worth a look as this is a temporary exhibition and may close in about four months time . Scruffs time again
Yes the show you have all been waiting for , Scruffs is on Saturday , October 14 in Plaza de España , from 1-5pm . There will be fun for all the family , enter your dog and win prizes , registration starts at 12 noon . It will take place in the large solid tent which is put up each year for feria . There will be a bar with food and drinks ,
A very clever dog at Scruffs 2016 stalls ( watch out for the Soltalk one !) and a display of abandoned dogs looking for a loving home . The show is organised by the Costa Animal Society in collaboration with Nerja Town Hall Foreigners Department and sponsored by local businesses . See you there !
Learn to play bridge ?

A charity auction will take place on Saturday October 21 , from 12 noon with viewing from 11.00am at the Al-Andalus Hotel in Maro near the Nerja Caves . Items including original artworks , handmade bed covers , copper and silver items as well as restaurant meals , hairdressing and will writing will be auctioned with bidding starting from as little as € 5 . Monies raised will be for the Residencia for the Elderly in Nerja and for the Anglican Chaplaincy of Nerja & Almuñecar . Nerja Players 2017 / 18
On Tuesday , October 17 , The Nerja Players open their doors for the season ’ s first performance which will be a cold unrehearsed reading . All attendees are invited to take part . On Tuesday , October 31 , The Nerja Players will hold ‘ With Great Pleasure ’ an evening of poems , stories and sketches , humorous or otherwise and presented by members . Non-members are also welcome to participate . Both performances start at 7pm and will be held in the Nerja Bridge Club – entrance is through the blue doors next to the Café Royal at the top of Avda Castilla Perez , Nerja . Do come along and share an enjoyable evening with us . A subsidised bar will be available . Buena Vista Petanca
Six teams competed in Buena Vista Petanca Group ’ s Autumn Cup competition at Torrox Park last month . The event was won by Joan Hart and John Wright with a score of 3 wins and plus 8 points . € 3K raised for Cudeca
An amazing € 3000 was raised for Cudeca last month by Pauline Kennedy and her sponsored walk from Nerja to Maro and back . Taking part with Pauline were Rena Dunne , Gillian Wilson , Hannah Conlan , Gill Nolan , Ernie Bright , Tony Merrigan , Ruth Phillips , Kathy O ' Brien and the two woofs Jay and Riki . They would like to thank everyone here in Nerja , Ireland and the UK who kindly sponsored them .
Move It To Music !
Time to wake up that mojo with these fun and friendly Move It To Music ! dance fitness classes , starting Saturday , October 21 , 11-12 noon at Time Sport Gym in Nerja . The exercise is gentle , with simple dance moves set to catchy pop tunes . Ideal for beginners and very popular with the 50-plus age group . € 5 per class .
