Welcome to the November issue of Soltalk. I must say at this
time of year I do miss four seasons. It seems that I am lulled
into the sense that summer will just go on for ever and within a
week it went from people sunbathing on the beach to terrible
storms and then back to the sunbathing again. Mind you we got
off lightly in Nerja compared to Majorca and other areas of
Málaga last month as you will see in our news pages.
festive atmosphere, but if crowds are not your thing go later
during December, they are always spectacular.
Plaza Cantarero in Nerja was in the pink last month as it hosted
different events for the International Day of Breast Cancer
(delayed due to inclement weather on October 19). The events,
which were held for the second year in Nerja, aim to raise
awareness of the importance of research for the cure of breast
cancer. The mayor of Nerja Rosa
Arrabal, and other Councilors joined
the event.
It’s nearly the end of another year
and to cheer ourselves up about that
fact, many of us start planning what
to do for Christmas so hopefully
you will find a few suggestions in
this issue of Soltalk.
Attendees dressed in pink clothes
(see photo) to give greater visibility
to their support. At 5:30 pm, a
manifesto was read by members of
the Spanish Association against
Cancer in Nerja and pink balloons
were distributed to symbolically
“paint the square.” The town hall
had an oversized pink ribbon to
show its support and also pink
lighting.
We are very happy to have a new
section this month for neighbouring
Torrox starting on page 54. We also
have our regular features as well as a
look at the Kitti Harri’s Sculpture
Garden which certainly looks worth
a visit, especially now it is a little
cooler. Read that on page 26.
I went to a great evening of Jazz last Saturday in the Plaza
Cavana Hotel, organised by Ventana Abierta. It was a great trio
called Juanma Nieto and friends. The bar at Hotel Plaza Cavana
is a lovely, comfortable and intimate venue for enjoying live
music which I highly recommend. Ventana Abierta have
another two events in November and you can find details on
our Top Things to Do article on page 22.
We hope this issue entertains and informs you, don’t forget to
like us on facebook if it does! Also if you are not in Nerja every
month to get your copy of Soltalk our new website lets you
read the magazine and more from the comfort of your sofa!
Check it out on www.soltalk.com.
Wishing you a wonderful November, and we hope you enjoy
this issue!
At the end of November the Christmas lights will be switched
on in Málaga and it is well worth going to see that, a very
