The Art Society Nerja
The Arts Society Nerja has the pleasure to invite you to two
events during the month of March.
From Folklore to Flamenco: the Music of Málaga, its History
and Rythms with music and dance by the Antonio Guerra
Company. Narrator: Helen Sisjling

Monet and his Gardens, a fully illustrated lecture by Brian
Healey, teacher, artist and interior designer.
Tuesday, March 10 at 18.00 at Centro Cultural, Calle Granada,
Nerja. Guests welcome: €10
The lecture is about the artist Claude Monet and his iconic
garden in Giverny. It describes how Monet’s love for flowers
and gardening grew and how it inspired him as an artist when
he was young. In Monet’s old age, the garden in Giverny
became his sole subject. His monumental waterlily series
became an artistic climax.
The event features live music
and dance by the Antonio
Guerra Company. Echoes of the
past will fill the air; arabs,
gypsies and smugglers.
Instruments unique for Málaga
will be heard like the lute, the
banderillo and castanets. It will
be a wonderful evening of
authentic local Flamenco like
Brian Healey (pictured
right) is a senior modern
language teacher. He has
also enjoyed successful
parallel careers as a
professional artist and
interior designer. He is an
appreciated speaker on
topics related to art
history. He has lectured in
more than 40 countries. In
March 2017 he visited
Nerja with a much
appreciated lecture on
Vincent van Gogh.

the Malaguena and the
Abandalo! The performance
will be narrated by Helen
Sisjling, President of the Arts
Society Nerja. The Antonio
Guerra Company also
performed for the Arts Society
in March 2019 in a stunning
performance.
