SmallTalk The Nerja Players The Nerja Players are going to be very busy this March and very much look forward to your company to enjoy it with them. Firstly, on March 4 at 7pm they are presenting a dramatized reading of John Mortimer’s “Rumpole and The Show Folk” directed by Marty Margulies …guests 3€ donation. Secondly, on March 17 at 7pm to celebrate/commemorate St Patrick’s Day, Mike Delany will be presenting his “Irish Miscellany”…. an evening tribute to all things Irish…. this will include a bowl of traditional Irish Stew and a glass of white/red wine, plus a special raffle for a meal for two kindly donated by The Good Stuff Cafe. Entrance 5€. Thirdly, on March 19 at 10.30am at the El Capistrano Village salon, a special production of “Springtime in Capistrano”….. a compilation of all things “Spring”…. 3€ donation. Nerja Players AGM The 2020 Annual General meeting of the Nerja Players took place at the premises of the Nerja Bridge Club on January 21. Alasdair Fox was elected President succeeding Joan Tarver who stood down after many years. Carol Hamilton was elected Vice-President, Peter Burch as Treasurer and John Brentley as Secretary. The AGM was well attended and various topics were discussed between the new committee and the members. Alastair welcomed the new members and then told the assembled company that the future looked exciting for The Nerja He urged the members to recruit new members, for existing members to become more involved and the early involvement of new members. The “Buffet Babes” (see photo L to R Sandra Hill, Molly Power and Carol Hamilton) served a very substantial and well-appreciated buffet with wine. Then followed a one act play called “Knightsbridge” by John Mortimer, directed by John Brentley, and featured Sandra Hill (a new member) undertaking her stage debut. The play was very well received. Summer Ball For the first time ever the Royal British Legion, Nerja Branch and the American International Club, Nerja have joined forces to organise a joint Summer Charity Ball. This will take place on Saturday May 30, at the Caves Restaurant, Maro. Price €40 for members €45 for non members. This includes welcome drinks and canapés followed by a three course dinner with wine. Music and entertainment by Ricky Lavazza.
