There will also be a tombola with a plethora of tantalizing prizes. Please stop by to say hello. We may bark but we do not bite! Mark at the Punta Lara Bar and CAS are pleased to announce their next charitable fund raising quiz to be held on March 22 at 7.30pm. Both regular quizzers and newcomers alike are invited to test to their grey matter and join Quiz Hostess Laura for a fun evening. Food and drinks are available at the bar and booking is recommended by calling Mark at 635 369 673. Residents Day is always a fun day out for the entire family with a full day of entertainment organised by the town hall. Visit the numerous stalls and food venues put on by local clubs, charities and small businesses and sample the culture and cuisine from the diverse legions of foreign residents who live in Nerja. The event runs from 12 noon to 5pm. Sebastian had been living in kennels with his brother Ossian for two years ever since their Swedish owner had to return home due to a serious medical problem. Ossian was adopted last summer by a nice family in Almuñecar leaving Sebastian on his own for the first time. Ready for Adoption Happy Tales Munch was rescued as a young pup early last year when he was only a couple of months old and grew up in kennels during the rest of 2018. In December he was seen on the CAS website by an English lady who was in Nerja on holiday and she immediately fell in love with Munch when she met him in kennels. He was quickly prepared for his journey to the UK but hit a snag in January when the person driving him to meet the transport van became ill en route. Munch Fortunately, Animal Express was very accommodating and transferred the dog to their February trip at no additional cost and Munch was delivered to his new owner in Hertfordshire on February 16. After a few more months in kennels he was given the opportunity to live with a fosterer who spends the winter in Nerja each year. She even went out of her way to buy him a yellow ‘Adopt Me’ collar and lead to highlight his status as they walked through town. Sebastian Sebastian quickly settled into living in a home and the fosterer says that he is the nicest dog she has looked after. His fosterer will return to the UK by the end of March but the extra attention has highlighted Sebastian’s cause and CAS is confident he will be much closer to finding his forever home by then. Featured Dog of the Month APA, the newer animal charity in Nerja, is housing Bruiser and Rocky in kennels until they can find new homes. One of the ways CAS cooperates with other animal charities like APA is to help advertise some of their harder to place rescues by sharing their stories across multiple networks. Arturo is a one- to two-year-old Podenco male and became the latest addition to the CAS catalogue of rescues after he was found by a Spanish man in the campo a few months ago. The man made a real effort to try and locate an owner in his area but Arturo did not have a microchip and no one recognised the dog. Rocky Bruiser and Rocky are not particularly troublesome and are beautiful examples of their breed but as young males they have to be matched carefully with other dogs due to their exuberance. Like most Podencos, Arturo has a lovely, playful personality and gets Arturo along well with other dogs. He really enjoys the company of people and will make a wonderful pet but will not be good with cats. Arturo has been fully vaccinated and castrated and is ready for a new life.
