Sue and Terry walk... up the aisle
The wedding everyone was talking about took place, not in
Windsor, but here in Nerja on May 11, when Sue Bennett
and Terry Brown were married in the Church of El
Salvador on the Balcón
de Europa by Father
Nigel Thomas.
The long-distance romance continued for the next couple
of years with increasingly frequent and longer visits, until
October 2016 when Terry moved here permanently. He
proposed (again!) in
February 2015 and she
finally accepted.
Sue is a well-known
figure in the town,
having lived and worked
here for over 15 years,
whilst Terry moved here
from his native
Staffordshire 18 months
ago.
A packed church saw the
bride given away by her
son, Anthony, while the
best man was the groom’s
brother Michael and the
bridesmaid was Sue’s
niece, Alicia.
The couple left the
church to a guard of
honour provided by their
friends from the walking
group forming an
archway with walking
poles!
The couple first met in a
local walking group in
May 2014 and had their
first date six months
later, after another walk
where Ian offered to
carry her rucksack up
and down the 1000
metre mountain El
Fuerto. Having accepted his offer she could hardly refuse a
dinner date with him.
The reception was held
at the restaurant
Marbella with music by the Flying Dolphins.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
