Peace in the world, what can we do?
It’s true; the world is on a downward spiral, in a mess and
getting messier. War, famine, disease, climate change, ego
driven world leaders, to mention but a few of our increasing
ailments. The world is sick. Despair prevails at our inability to
stop the onslaught. How do we halt the inevitable? Our
grandchildren really are going to thank us for this disaster!
Friday mob to see the destructive influence of greed. We do
connect with each other. If you are in a good mood it affects
those around you. You have the ability to bring about change.
FACT. We want a better world. What can we do? We can
change our behaviours from critical, judgmental, uncaring,
selfish, and unforgiving to behaviours more in keeping with
the world that we aspire to. You do a little, and I do a little.
They do a little. Our combined influence will effectively
spread and bring about changes in attitude, governments, laws
and ultimately the quality of life of the planet. Personal
changes are one thing that each of us has at our disposal. We
want a world of peace. It makes sense to be at peace with
ourselves as a starter. Joy in the world will come from this.
But, but, but WE didn’t cause it. In this pantomime season I
say “OH YES WE DID.” The world that our grandchildren will
inherit is a consequence of our combined, not malicious but
misguided activities. We do acknowledge this with regard to
natural phenomena i.e. weather, air quality, etc. Governments
are now belatedly attempting to rectify the damage before it
becomes irreversible.
The way this works is quite simple in theory, a little more
difficult in practice. The more you practice it the easier it
becomes. You set your goal. I am going to be at peace with the
world and myself today. First thing, make sure that you are at
peace within yourself. Get rid of all feelings of anger and bin
the grudges. Anything in fact that influences your “feel good
factor.” Try as much as possible to be in the NOW. Looking
forward and backwards are counter productive. This moment
is all you ever have. Live it, use it. Don’t criticize don’t judge.
And this includes yourself. Be kind to yourself, you are not
perfect, and you are doing your best. You want the world to be
at peace. Work at it. Stay in the now. Be at peace. Please bring
peace into our world. I am trying to do the same. Sometimes
we will fail but sometimes we will succeed. Stick with it and
have a great, peaceful year.

Unfortunately the same is true with respect to the destructive
behavioral aspect of our world. Each one of us, in our own
little way, played our part in making the world a most
unwelcome place. Our very own petty, greedy, uncaring,
selfish and sometimes brutal behaviour multiplied by millions
doing the same things makes a world of pain and sorrow full of
injustice and hate. It is awful to feel that we are part of this but
the reality is that each of us, with very few exceptions,
contributed our drop of malice into the boiling cauldron of
mother earth. We can’t change all of it, but we can change
some of it and in the same manner as we contributed to the
decline of the earth.
A mood influences others. Anger creates anger. Anxiety and
fear spread like a disease in any social gathering. Watch a black
