Lux Mundi Carol Service
The Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar Ecumenical Carol Service was
held on Saturday December 14, in the Parish Church of San
Andres in Torre del Mar, where Christians from different
traditions, International friends and residents in the Axarquia,
came together to pray and enjoy the traditional carols.
The prayers were led by the Rev. James Tayler - Episcopal
Reformed Spanish Church, Don Juan Francisco Cardaldas G.-
Torre del Mar Parish Priest, Pastor Manfred Ottertstaetter -
Evangelical German Church, Rev Anelisse Bager - Danish
Church, readings by various members of the congregation and
the carols were performed by the Spanish Choir “Amigos de
Lux Mundi” director Julio Bautista, the German Choir “Con
Los Cantores” director Lisa Kropp and the TIMS English Choir
director Margaret Williams.
It was a most enjoyable Service, with the congregation joining
in the various carols, the words of which were displayed on
large screens at the sides of the church and the service ended in
candlelight with the congregation holding candles. After the
Service many of the friends and the choirs enjoyed drinks and
a buffet supper in the upper room of the church and of course
there was more carol singing. We would like to give thanks to
all those from the community who came to support this special
Lux Mundi event and for their generosity, €630 was collected
which will be distributed by the Parish Church to help families
and children in need.
Lux Mundi Trip details...
Monday 17th to Thursday 20th February – A coach trip to
Cáseres, Trujillo, Guadalupe and Mérida. Come and join us for
a 4 day trip visiting the province of Extremadura. The first day
you will join the coach for the drive to Cáseres, we will stop en
route for breakfast and lunch which are not included in the
price. On arrival you will check in to the 3* Hotel Alcántara,
where you will stay on a half board basis. The hotel is in the
centre of the town. There will be a guided visit to the Historical
Centre after which you will return to the hotel for dinner.
On the second day you will join the coach at 8.30am to visit
Guadalupe, where you will visit the Monastery. You will have
free time to buy lunch and at 3pm re-join the coach to visit
Trujillo and at 8.15pm the coach will take you back to the hotel
for dinner.
On the third day you will depart the hotel at 9am by coach to
Merida, where you’ll be able to join the tourist train and there
will be free time to buy lunch. You will return from Merida at
3pm arriving back at the hotel for dinner.
On the last day after breakfast you will join the coach to visit
La Ermita, Virgen de Ara (The Sistine Chapel of Extremadura)
and there will be free time for lunch. After the visit you will
depart for the homeward journey arriving at approximately
20.15. Ticket price €319 or €299 with a Friends of Lux Mundi
card (Single supplement €50). The price includes transport, 3
nights Half Board accommodation, travel insurance, tickets to
Cáceres Cathedral, Guadalupe Monastery, Fuente de Ara
Hermitage and tourist train in Merida.
