Virgen del Carmen returns
The Virgen del Carmen returned last month in all its splendour to meet again with Nerjeños and Mareños ( people of Nerja and Maro ) after two years without being able to perform the traditional land and sea procession due to Covid restrictions . The outing started at 7:00 pm after mass , and toured the streets
Carmen Brotherhood and all the devotees during religious acts celebrated in honour of the Virgin . The Mayor congratulated the members of the Brotherhood " on this important day for Nerja residents and for the fishermen and sailors , and reiterated to his commitment to the council to continue working to enhance this Nerja tradition , " to consolidate itself as a reference not only religiously , but also culturally and touristically ". and the entire coastline of Nerja , from the Playazo to Burriana , embarking in Torrecilla and disembarking in Calahonda . The event concluded with a fireworks display at the Balcon de Europa .

A celebration marked by applause , a shower of petals and cheers for the Virgen del Carmen throughout the processional route . In addition , the performances of the Peña Nerjeña and the Nerja Music Band , and the salve marinera that was sung by Manolo “ El Sevillita ”, Daniel Rodríguez and José Fernández at the door of the Church and on the Balcón de Europa .
The following Saturday , the acts ended in honor of Virgen del Carmen with the Moraga Popular and the concert by Manuel Orta organized by the Brotherhood with the collaboration of the Nerja town hall .
Parish Church Annual General Meeting held at Lux Mundi
On Saturday the 2nd of June , Lux Mundi welcomed to the Centre the Annual General Meeting of the San Andres Parish Church of Torre del Mar .
It started at 11.30 with a welcome from the parish priest in the name of the parish and Lux Mundi . It was very important for us , that the meeting took place in Lux Mundi so that the parishioners get to know the work of Lux Mundi and the relationship with the parish church , promoting ecumenism and being a bridge with the Christian church established here !!
The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the work of the different groups , what has been done and what is still to be done , how to improve and what to correct for next year ’ s work . Afterwards we were divided into working groups to propose the goals we would like to achieve and in general the conclusion was inspired by a sentence about
Unity that follows the steps of searching for others , meeting others , getting to know them , to love them and be united as a Christian family .
At the end of the meeting we all shared lunch , enjoyed some live music played by the parishioners and the meeting was closed with a prayer for the future of our parish church and for all those who are part of it . The picture shows visitors from the Parish Church watching a Powerpoint show .
