Nerja in mourning for
corona virus victims
The flag of Nerja, on the balcony of the Town Hall and other
municipal buildings, flies at half mast, as a show of the sorrow
of the nerjeños y nerjeñas for all the people who have died in
our country due to the coronavirus, Covid-19, as well as for
those who die until the end of the epidemic.
This has been decreed by the mayor, José Alberto Armijo, who
states that “this measure is intended to make visible the
manifestation of respect and solidarity of Nerja with the
families of all the victims. This measure has been adopted after
consulting the spokespersons of the Corporation’s municipal
groups and we will maintain it until we defeat the epidemic.”
Armijo has pointed out that “the death in our country, today,
of more than four thousand people, more than one hundred
and thirty in Andalusia, and the tragic prospect that the
number will continue to increase in the coming days, is
sufficient reason for condolences to the families of all those
killed by this terrible virus.”
