Woodside Energy since the ship was new in 2009, a contract that has been extended until 2017. Woodside is Australia's largest oil and gas operator and is also an international player with production in places such as the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, Korea and Myanmar. Peter Maidment is the Operations Manager of Solstad Australia, and he says it is a great advantage to work long-term for the same customer. - We know Woodside well having worked for them for many years. This means that we have established smooth working relations and are adept at finding solutions together. This naturally has a positive effect on safety onboard, Maidment says. Nor Australis mainly carries out IMR assignments (IMR= Inspection Maintenance and Repair) on Woodside's oil and gas fields in northwestern Australia. The ship has also been used for light subsea constrcution and as a DSV by divers performing inspection of subsea installations. Nor Australis has a crew of about 25, in addition to 25-30 representatives of Woodside, increasing to up to around 100 total POB for projects. Everyone contributes Peter Maidment commends the crew for the excellent job they have done to ensure safe operations. -Everyone onboard has contributed to this. Safe operations have also been emphasized by Solstad’s office, and HSEQ Manager Lars Roes deserves a lot of the credit. Solstad’s proprietary HSEQ system (Solstad Integrated Management Woodside's ROV contractor Subsea 7 System) SIMS has now been fully integrated also here in Australia, and we see that it is a very useful tool, Maidment says. They are five employees in the office in Perth, he says, in addition to a team of 3-4 people working in engineering and project management in connection with DLB Norce Endeavour's assignment on Barrow Island (see separate article page 48). A number of large development projects in Australia are currently being planned, and Peter Maidment admits that Solstad would like to be in on some of the future activities. - We have a well established office in Perth, we enjoy good contact with clients and have experience from demanding operations. We are thereby well positioned to compete for jobs in Australia in the time to come, Peter Maidment concludes.
