Solships - Solstad Offshore ASA 04/2010 - Christmas edition | Page 26

christmas Greetings from brazil Klaus Doscher, Aline Gusmao, Nathalia Oliveira, Deiselane Nascimento, Bruno Mattoso, Vivian Maia, Sheila Ferreira - 1st row . Fabio Hartog and Jose Roberto Neves - 2nd row Alexandre Foureaux, Franklin Bezerra and Rolf Faber - 3rd row CHRISTMAS GREETINGS FROM BRAZIL During the last year, Solstad Brazil has grown to a total number of 130 employees. The majority are working onboard the vessels Normand Borg, Normand Drott, Normand Seven, Normand Titan, Normand Trym, Normand Vibran and Nor Offshore vessel Nor Sun, while the office staff in Rio now counts fourteen employees. Four of these, however, will soon be starting at the newly refurnished branch office that is overlooking the Petrobras port in Macaé. Solstad Brazil took over the local operation of their first vessel - Normand Borg - in July this year and are now only waiting for Petrobras approval in order to take over five additional contracts. This is likely to happen early next year and we are all very excited to get started! The oil industry in Brazil is booming at the 26 moment. There will be a large demand for offshore vessels in the years to come which again means a lot of opportunities for Solstad. On the other side, the increasing number of vessels creates certain challenges such as the increasing lack of qualified Brazilian crewmembers. To solve these challenges and to continue to deliver “Solstad-quality”, we have to work closely together. We believe we have a competent staff here at the Rio office that are ready to support the vessels in all local matters. It will be important that the vessels on their side use this competence frequently and always keep close contact with the responsible people in each department in Solstad Brazil, especially when it comes to Petrobras matters that, as we all know, demand a lot from all of us. Solships - 41. årgang – julen 2010 There will always be challenges and the important thing will be our ability to solve them and at the same time gain new competence and experience. We are certain that Solstad is heading in the right direction in Brazil and are looking forward to good and successful 2011 together with all of you. Thanks to the vessels N. Borg, N. Drott, N. Progress, N. Seven, N. Titan, N. Trym, N. Vibran , N. Sun as well as Solstad Norway and Nor Offshore Singapore for a great cooperation in 2010. Best wishes from all of us in Solstad Offshore Ltda.!
