Campaign Update: Support Worker Promise
CCP had a good meeting with Hounslow
Council. They have agreed to do many things
to support The Support Worker Promise.
The Promise will be part of their Contracts
Policy. This means they will make sure all
Support Workers employed through the
Council follow the rules in The Promise. The
Promise will also become part of training for
all Council staff. Speak Out will help with
some of this training.
The Council will ask people with disabilities
to fill in a survey every year to let them know
if they are happy with the help they get from
Support Workers.
Meanwhile CCP ran training with a group of
clients & Certitude Support Workers on how
to introduce the Support Worker Promise in
clients’ reviews. Sessions went well with
good feedback from the Support Workers:
“The course was good as it helped us to
understand our client’s needs”
“Very good session... I wish all support
workers were here!”
“Nick (facilitator) showed excellent
communication skills and made the
course very enjoyable”
.
