Socio-economic status (SES) is an important determinant of health and well-being because it influences children's attitudes, experiences, and exposure to several health risk factors.

Indeed, several studies have shown that low socioeconomic characteristics like household incomes, education levels are related to a variety of chronic diseases.

The relation between low SES and health is not limited to adults, as children who grow up in a low SES family have a higher risk for an unhealthier lifestyle and cardiovascular disease compared to children from higher SES.
