WORK Until two decades ago, women were relegated to not very prominent roles. But they have come a long way since then.  Coming from very diverse backgrounds, they often oversee large-scale operations, coordinate largely male teams, and play an integral part in the elaboration of the wines and the commercial and strategic management of their company. Now. women leaders have an edge! They multitask, they nurture, care for people but also understand well the boardroom strategic sessions. As some wise man has rightly said in this context, “Just following orders” will never be an excuse again, not that it ever really was. Everything we do must be guided by love. Power is the poison in our veins, empathy is the antidote.” According to some reports in 2017, women accounted for about one third of the approximately 50,000 heads of French vineyards, compared with 14 per cent 20 years ago. R WINNING!WINE! In the areas of executive management, women were significantly over-represented in human resources and marketing and under-represented in operations, sales, viticulture, IT, and winemaking. The report also suggested from last year the women CEOs ran 13 percent of the state’s wineries with an annual production of more than 10,000 cases. At the wineries, producing 500,000 to 1 million cases per year, 25 percent of CEO's were women.   Most importantly, today almost all the major wine regions of the country have their own local association of female winemakers like Les Divines d’Alsace, Les Fa’Bulleuses de Champagne, or Étoiles en Beaujolis etc. SoCultures got the opportunity to get in touch with such wine association namely, “ Les Fa ’ bulleuses de Champagne ” . 60 SOCULTURES JAN-FEB2019
