Down the memory lane… Bissau, till today, is known for its brilliant rulers and fierce warriors of the medieval era of Rajasthan. The Mamlaguzar thikanas had special privileges in the Jaipur Durbar; the Maharaja had to rise for the Mamlaguzar Sardar. From receiving privileges like allowed to wear all their ornaments and to carry their swords in the Jaipur Durbar, their status was different from the rest of the Jaipur thikanas that time. Probably, the most famous ruler of Bissau was Thakur Shyam Singh of Bissau, who was considered as one of the most renowned warriors of his time. He fought many successful battles against the Jaipur State and the British with the help of French mercenaries Another Bissau royalty, who has names written in gold letters, is Thakur Raghubir Singh of Bissau, fond of traveling and literature; he was the noblest of all the rulers of Bissau. Highly educated privately by his tutor at the prestigious Mayo College, Ajmer, he shared a great rapport with His Highness Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur.  Bissau history credits him also for contributing to bring back its place of prominence.   Meeting the present royal family The present royal family of Bissau resides at Bissau Palace, Jaipur which was converted into one of the first heritage hotels in Rajasthan by Thakur Raghubir Singh of Bissau. Raja Rawal Sanjai Singhji, the Hereditary Sardar of Jaipur is the tenth and present Rawal Saheb of Bissau since 19th July, 1978.  Born on 15th December 1957, he is married to Rani Vasundhara Kumari, daughter of Raja Vishwaraj Pratap Singh ji of Kawardha.
