2. Rujak
Considered as the national salad of Indonesia, it can be made with pineapples,
bananas, cucumber and green apples with a dressing of chilli powder, soya sauce,
brown sugar and lemon juice.
3. Rendang
It is one of the most popular dishes in Indonesia and is believed to come to existence
when the Minangkabau settlers migrated to Malay Peninsula. An extremely flavorful
and tender coconut spicy meat cooked dish, Rendang is mostly served on ceremonial
occasions. The paste of mixed ground spices is called Pemasak, which in
Minangkabau refers to continuously churning the ingredients in a pot or frying pan,
on a small fire, until cooked.
Rendang is believed to come to existence when the Minangkabau settlers migrated to
Malay Peninsula.
So all in all, it is clear evidence that the way the art and culture of Indonesia is
influenced by various cultures, people who migrated and/or travelled to Indonesia,
similarly the food too is influenced by the varied cultures
