SociopaThy: nurture

Some scientists and sociologists have submitted evidence that supports the idea that some people's sociopathy is caused by how they were raised. These scientists cite the large numbers of murderers and other psychopaths who have reported that their childhood was less than ideal at the very best. These psychopaths often describe traumatic experiences such as being sexually, physically, and verbally assaulted during their childhood. The correlation seems to be too great to disregard as just being coincidence. Few psychopaths actually seem to have semi-normal childhoods. The evidence supporting this theory is staggering. This is not to say that everyone who has been victim of a traumatic experience will automatically lose their ability to feel empathy. Psychologists have been theorizing why this correlation exists. Could it be that the great stress and dangers that sociopaths have experienced have caused the brain to disregard empathy as a sort of defense mechanism to protect from the great dangers that this sociopath has experienced? Or maybe these people want to take revenge from the world? Perhaps feeling powerless from their abusive parents causes them to want to assert their power over another. The answer is unknown at this point. Scientists will continue to attempt to get to the bottom of this anomaly.
