Active Social Bodies

Farrukh Foundation is a non-profit NGO registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 in 2013 but before its registration, it has worked from many years towards the social and economic uplift of persons with disabilities in entire Punjab. Farrukh Foundation is unique in its purpose with respect to other development agencies which aims to create independent living atmosphere for the people with certain disabilities in Punjab. Because Farrukh Foundation believes many people with disabilities do not have equal access to health care, education, and employment opportunities, do not receive the disability-related services that they require, and experience exclusion from everyday life activities in Pakistan.

We Believe disability is increasingly understood as a human rights issue. Disability is also an important development issue with an increasing body of evidence showing that persons with disabilities experience worse socioeconomic outcomes and poverty than persons without disabilities.

Moreover, despite the magnitude of the issue, both awareness of and scientific information on disability issues are lacking. There is no agreement on definitions and little internationally comparable information on the incidence, distribution and trends of disability. In the light of such circumstances Farrukh Foundation aims to lighten up the candle of hope for person with disabilities and wants to set up community based rehabilitation practice in the entire Punjab.
