Social Therapy Mag: How long has CFO been together and how many members are in the Band?
CFO: I started the Cosmic Funk Orchestra back in 2000 when I first returned to Philly after living in Washington D.C. for a couple of years. The musicians have changed over the years but the core of the group has always been the emcees. When we first started I had 5 musicians playing (drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and horns) plus myself with 3 other emcees and a background singer. Of course, this big band was hard to keep together over the years and more recently the band was stripped down to a drummer, bass and guitars, but I’m still very open to adding a keyboard player at some point.
Social Therapy Mag: Does CFO currently have an album out?
CFO: We have a mixtape that is out right now called “The Expendables” and available for FREE download (7/24/12) at www.ceeknowthedoodlebug.bandcamp.com and everyone who downloads and leaves their email address will be entered into a random drawing to win a FREE IPod Touch. Also, I have a 2-disc album available on ITunes called “Futuristic Sci Fi” by Doodlebug ft. D.O.R on FatBeats/ SoulSpasm records.
Social Therapy Mag: Is CFO signed to any label? If not, what record labels would the group sign with?
CFO: We are not signed exclusively to any label nowadays...we have done licensing deals with such Indie labels as CounterFlow Records, Root70Lounge Records, FatBeats/SoulSpasm records and Ol Roy Records but have not done anything with any major label as of yet.
Social Therapy Mag: As a band, who have yall collabed with so far and who would yall like to collab with?
CFO: I have had the honor to Collab with a lot of great artists such as Blame One, Don Will, Moka Only, Tre Hardson, Black Ice the Poet, J-Dash, Abstract Artform, Illuminati Congo, LMNO of the Visionaries, The Tones, P-Able, Wise Intelligent, Truth Universal, Stic Man, Dj Cavem, Dj Soulbuck, Dj Alex J, Kai Chi aka Flo-Sama Bin Rhymin, Nex Millen, Poesh Wonder and many others that I can’t remember right now, sorry :) but I would love to do a track with Immortal Technique, or Smif n Wessun or Sean Price or somebody like dat ya'meen?

CFO: I would love to work with 9th Wonder, Dj Premiere, Pete Rock, and OhNo.
