Social Media & Influencers Impact On The Fashion Industry 1 | Page 26
The
Future
But what does the future hold for fashion on social media
and blogging? As Burberry adopted this new ‘seasonless’
approach to new fashion (see now, buy now), which they
announced in February this year that they were going to
offer the products to the public as soon as it was shown on
the catwalk. [Dazed, 2106] In the current London Fashion
week, that was the first time they used this concept where
their AW16/17 collection was shown – not SS17. Not only
did they use this new concept but they also previewed
some of their collection on snapchat and their makeup looks a whole day before the big day. [Dazed, 2016]
So, how does this affect tomorrow’s fashion. As social
media is becoming a must-have in the 21st century, a lot
more brands will adapt to the use of live streaming on
social media. River Island has recently come up with a
concept where in store mannequins are taking a selfie on
a phone. The whole point of this is for the consumers to
take a photo in River Island garments and post it on social
media which will make their friends ask “where is that
from?” and responding to that it will gather more customers
for River Island. So, is that the way forward now, using
social media as a tool to bring in more customers? Or is
it all just a bit too much with the selfie mannequins.
Bloggers! Yes there is a hype about them right now, but
will it die down in a few years? Or are they this next
big thing? With research carried, bloggers have just
hit their peak; everyone wants what they are wearing,
everyone wants to be them. But in a few years’ time
it will pass-by. As many years ago, celebrities were
this big thing (celebrities being film stars, singers
etc.), everyone wanted to be them, wanted what they were
wearing but that died down and so will this blogger
affect. Who knows, reality stars could be this next thing.
