The young talent:
Kukka-Maaria Polso
Kukka-Maaria Polso, 18, plays for FC Honka as a goal keeper in the Naisten Liiga (Women's League, highest division of women's soccer in Finland). Since 2012 Kukka has been training with the FC Honka women and even played in a few games but it was not until autumn 2013 that she finally signed with them. How did she get from playing with classmates on school grounds to playing with the best women in Finland?
Athletics has always been a part of Kukka's life, as a child she danced ballet and played some tennis, but friends is what got her interested in soccer. In primary school Kukka played soccer with the other children on school grounds and suddenly in 5th grade a huge soccer boom came to her school, most of Kukkas friends were starting to play soccer on teams outside of school so that is how Kukka herself decided to start actually playing soccer as a hobby in Hoogee.
