When you use one, it makes even a simple drawing look complex and difficult, so the client thinks you spent more time on it than you did. I started my life doing book covers, but that work has vanished; so many anxious people in publishing, and so few books are being printed. The computer has changed everything. I just did the‘ Mad Men’ job that references my 1966 Bob Dylan poster. When I did it, the original drawing was in black and white, pen and ink. Then I had to cut the colored adhesive film and rub it down’ till it stuck to get the effect. It made me nuts. Now I can do that kind of thing with a computer and it takes 10 percent of the time.
