When you use one , it makes even a simple drawing look complex and difficult , so the client thinks you spent more time on it than you did . I started my life doing book covers , but that work has vanished ; so many anxious people in publishing , and so few books are being printed . The computer has changed everything . I just did the ‘ Mad Men ’ job that references my 1966 Bob Dylan poster . When I did it , the original drawing was in black and white , pen and ink . Then I had to cut the colored adhesive film and rub it down ’ till it stuck to get the effect . It made me nuts . Now I can do that kind of thing with a computer and it takes 10 percent of the time .
