But the days of Lazy Fishing on the White River were numbered. With the start of construction and later completion of Bull Shoals dam (completed in 1951), Cotter, Arkansas became float trip inaccessible. Backing up water all the way to Power Site Dam, ( built circa: 1914) forming a 45,000 acre 80 mile long lake and taking with it approximately 100 miles of floatable water. But the upper White above Taneycomo was still there. The best trip, the one that is said to have started it all, the Galena to Branson float was still available.
